Carved Planter Workshop - Saturday 7th August & Saturday 14th August
Bookings are currently closed due to Covid-19 related lockdown. Bookings will open again when new dates are available.
Create your own carved planter. Perfect for giving as gifts or to add to your own collection.
Numbers are limited to 16 places for this workshop.
Session 1: Creating - Saturday 7th August
At the first session you will learn the skills to make a hand-built pot out of a slab of clay. All clay and tools will be provided. You are encouraged to bring along an apron to protect your clothes.
Session 2: Carving - Saturday 14th August
Your creations will dry to the leather-hard stage in the week between the two sessions. We will then learn a variety of techniques to carve random and geometric patterns into our pots, adding holes for drainage or hanging.
After the workshop
Your pieces will be left to completely dry and then bisque fired. I will then apply a white glaze before firing a second time and then your pieces will be made available for collection.
All clay, glazes and tools to use at each session and all firing costs. You will be able to make at least two carved planter pots.
A delicious afternoon tea will be provided at each session and an air-conditioned location to create in.

Working with clay can be a tricky journey of trial and error. At every stage there are multiple variances that can result in an unexpected outcome. This may mean a piece does not make it through to completion. This is part of the challenge and joy of the process. As such when participating in a Summer Freckles workshop no guarantee is given that at the end of the workshop you take home the expected items. All care will be taken but the understanding is that often the situation is beyond the control of Summer Freckles staff. By purchasing a Summer Freckles workshop whether online or in person you agree to these terms and conditions.
Giving this workshop as a gift? I'd love to send you a beautifully printed gift card for you to present to your giftee. Just add the words 'Send me a gift card' and include the giftee's name and email address in the 'Special Instructions for Seller' box and make sure you add your postal address when completing your purchase.
